Age: Physically, he appears to be in his early twenties; his actual age is unknown.
Gender: Male
Species: Born (presumably) human with immense magical powers, and the ability to learn and use offensive magic.
Sexuality: Pansexual, likely... but he doesn't really have time to think about that, he's on an Epic Crossover Journey.
Marked?: No.
Residence: The Cat's Eye Café, with Millay Ashford and Syaoran.

Appearance: Fai is slim and fairly tall. His hair is light blond and fairly messy, and his eyes are pale blue in color. He almost always has a smile on his face; whether it happens to be real or not, is up to debate. His clothing is the style expected of a wizard of Celes, and suitable for battle. His usual outfit has quite a bit of layers, all covered with a thick, large coat designed for Celes' incredibly cold weather.

Personality: At first, Fai is one who comes off as very easygoing, calm, and laid-back. He's fairly amiable, soft-spoken and very proper in conversation; he likes to ask questions, though he won't always be entirely truthful when answering someone else's inquiries. While he might appear to be very involved in a discussion with someone, Fai almost always has something other than the subject on his mind; his mind is constantly fixed on a number of things that either cause him concern or worry. Fai is also emotionally distant, and has made it a point to prevent himself from getting very close to anyone. The exceptions to this, of course, are those who have already breached this barrier: Sakura, Syaoran, Kurogane, and Mokona. He shows this intimacy with them mostly with how he addresses them: Sakura-chan, Syaoran-kun and Kuro-sama (along other suffixes aside from "-sama" that tend to easily irk Kurogane).

Abilities/Strengths: Though he refuses to use it, Fai has a great amount of magical power at his disposal. It is solely offensive; Fai has never managed to learn any kind of healing magic before; whenever he attempted to do so, he would quickly forget the spell after learning it. Yet, when he was younger, Ashura told him that his smile had the ability to heal by warming a person's heart, which he told Fai was a type of magic the boy was still able to use. Fai relies mostly on graceful, physical combat to defend himself or others; he also makes use of whatever he can for a weapon.

Weaknesses: One of Fai's greater weaknesses is the lack of concern for his own life; he'll fight to the best of his ability if another person's safety is on the line, but he can get rather careless should only his own well-being be at stake. He has a tendency to lie quite a bit or just be evasive in general; it's just another of his defenses, which has him reluctant to give anyone sufficient information to have them involved with him in any way. As far as physical weaknesses go, though he can hold his own in physical combat quite well, his slight frame can become an issue for him.

History [SPOILERS]: In the country of Valeria, there were two twins, Fai and Yuui; they were born to the kingdom's second prince and his wife. While the people of Valeria were looking forward to the birth of a child from the second prince, the arrival of twins was considered a bad omen in Valeria. As if to prove this, shortly after the birth of the twins, the prince died; in turn, their mother killed herself for having brought such a curse into the world.

Because either of them refused to kill the other, the King determined that the only way the people of Valeria could have happiness or fortune at all, was for them to be miserable for the rest of their lives. Fai and Yuui were kept at a tower in a valley, where time stood still and magic had no power, away from the people. Fai was kept locked in the top of the tower, and Yuui chained to the base. They were doomed to remain there forever, while the corpses of sinners from Valeria were thrown into the valley with them. Despite their suffering and unhappiness, more and more bodies were being tossed into the valley; the King himself had gone mad and began to kill any and every citizen of Valeria, eventually throwing himself into the valley. His last act is his suicide in front of Yuui, who is only reminded of the misfortune that they have brought to their country by merely existing. At this point, it seems that both Fai and Yuui, being the only people left a ive in Valeria, have ultimately come to terms with the fact that they will never be anything more than a curse and resign themselves to this fate.

However, Fei Wong Reed, who plans to acquire a means to travel beyond worlds and time itself, has a use for one of them in mind. He offers to free only one of them; Fai asks him to save Yuui, which results in Fai being thrown from the tower to his death where Yuui lies below. Fei Wong Reed alters Yuui's memories of these events, having the child believe that the only reason for Fai's death was Yuui's wish to save his own life. Because of this, Yuui blames himself completely for his brother's death, and wants to desperately correct this; as far as he's concerned, he does not even deserve to live after Fai's death. Fei Wong Reed promises him a way to bring back his brother, but it comes with a few conditions. Later, Yuui will have to go on a journey to protect a princess that will ultimately serve to fulfill Fei Wong Reed's goals; in addition, two curses are placed on Yuui. He has no recollection of what the second is, however, as Fei Wong Reed also erased that information from his memory. Yuui is instructed to visit the Dimensional Witch once he has found two of Sakura's feathers, providing one to save Sakura from dying and enabling Fei Wong's plan to begin.

Yuui is then found by Ashura, who traveled from another world's country of Celes. When Ashura asks Yuui for his name, the boy replies with "Fai"; because of the circumstances he believes his brother to have died in, he does not consider himself to even deserve to exist anymore. Ashura is the one who gives him the last name of "Flourite", after a precious talisman mineral in Celes Country; Fai then later earns the highest mage title of "D", thus becoming Fai D. Flourite. Fai later comes across the feathers Fei Wong had told him about; he uses one to make Chii, a creation made in the image of his mother, to look after his brother's body until he can be revived. Yet, some many years later, Ashura himself begins to gradually go mad and kill innocent residents of Celes; Fai believes himself to be the cause of this, still convinced of the curse of twins being born. Upon confronting Ashura, Fai cannot bring himself to murder Ashura in accordance with the promise he made to protect Celes from anyone and anything. Instead, Fai places Ashura under a spell, leaving him to slumber in Celes so as to avoid actually having to kill him; when Fai leaves for the journey with Sakura, he leaves Chii to alert him should Ashura ever awaken.

When Fai arrives at the Dimension Witch's world, he has but one wish: to not return to Celes at any cost. Since his desire, as well as Syaoran and Kurogane's wishes, is too costly to pay for on his own, he shares the price with the other travelers that he has been expected to join.

It is from here that Fai, masking his thoughts and true intentions with nothing more than a playful smile and easygoing attitude, joins Sakura, Syaoran, and Kurogane in the quest to retrieve the princess's feathers. However, despite his original plan to remain closed off from all of them emotionally, Fai himself isn't even aware of how each of them slowly made their way into his heart.

Still, his nonchalant attitude concerning his life was his downfall, and while fighting off enemies in an effort to protect Sakura and aid in recovering yet another feather, Fai was caught off guard and mortally wounded. Despite his companion's efforts, Fai is unable to survive his injuries and dies, and finds himself having arrived in Template.
